Lost In You

If you follow my blog, Facebook, or YouTube page then you know I love to write. Nothing makes me feel better especially on times of stress. The best thing about writing is the places the story can take you, the images in your mind, and the mystery of the authors meaning. Writing is a wonderful outlet, has beautiful imagery, and if its a great body of work can stimulate others. This poem I wrote is one that suggests mystery(for me anyway), I wonder if you can guess what is being talked about?

Lost In You:

You've caressed my face with your warm feel,
Intoxicated my senses with your sweet sent,
I've danced to your song, loving the rhythm you gave me,
Taking the deepest of breaths,
I'm lost in you.

I am lost in your your eyes and what lies underneath,
The deepest of browns that pierce through me,
I've inhaled your honeyed breath,
And tasted the sweetest of flavors,
Engulfed by your essence,
I bend to your pleasure,
I'm lost in you.

I've traced and outlined your body too many times to count,
Chronicling a blueprint in my mind of the reaction you've caused,
I've slept in the softness of you;hours of bliss,
To awaken comforted by the memory of your kiss,
I am lost in you.

*I wrote this with the intent to bring life to something that had none. I guess this was my attempt at showing growth as a writer. Please try and see if you can figure out what or who I'm talking about.

How to look SNATCHED for the spring! The curvy girls way to recover from winter blues.

SNATCHED? What's that? Snatched is when you look well put together and accessorized in your ensemble. Not everyone can reach the status of such a level. But, we're going to discuss some spring time ways of looking and being SNATCHED for spring.

Though I love spring and the symbolism of "re birth" often times that symbolism is lost on full figured or curvy women. As previously stated in the"Fashion Rewind" article a lot of repeats might and will occur. But, let's not concern ourselves with that as of yet; let's shift our focus to what's really important. You might ask, what's that? I'm happy you've asked! It's F.C.A.

F.C.A stands for Fit, Color, & Attitude. These three rules for spring time sexy are going to help every woman, regardless of size. Though easy concepts; to find a reflection of these concepts are difficult at best. Because of availability of certain go to styles in a size bigger than a 6; we girls(and guys too) have to get inventive.

Fit, as we discussed before; is your body type and knowing how to properly match clothing with your proportions. I know this is the hardest part of the three rules, because of the difficulty. But, a solution to this problem can be as simple as branching out of your comfort zone. When we curvy women find clothing in a particular place we tend to always go there in hopes that we will always strike gold; when that doesn't happen we become disappointed, angry, and depressed. All of which can lead to more weight gain, thus making the problem worse, do we want that? NO! I thought so! So, try visiting other towns, online retailers, and even thrift stores can have great finds if your willing to do the work.

Color,  the color you choose should be reflective of your style, personality and surroundings. I know some people are eclectic at heart, but know when, and where to go extreme! Some of us an take our personal style too far and people around us can get the wrong message. If you are trying to convey artistic, creative, & intelligent others may see slacker, self involved, & incapable. Though some may not care or disagree, try to remember those are the people your trying to get to notice your body or works; whether it be writing, music, spoken word, etc. that we can all safely agree on!

The next rule is attitude,  it can make or break a career. Too much can make you come off as arrogant, too little can result in you being overlooked when important projects come up, but just a little of both will give anyone an edge in any industry to make an impression, turn inches into miles, and put on the road to success. If you can project how you see yourself and feel in a positive way people will have no choice but to respond.

As always stay beautiful, confident, & sexy!

Love, Sex & Relationships: How did I hook up with YOU!

Hello Dolls! How long has it been since you've been on a date? If ever? A lot of full figured women get into relationships and completely skip the dating part. In doing that we don't get to know the person were with, then have the nerve to be surprised when they play us out or push us to the left. That kind of dating isn't really dating and we as full figured men/women have to be careful of who we let into our space.

How many or your relationships end with you wondering how the hell you got into them in the first place? GUILTY! I've definitely been in some questionable relationships and after it was over I couldn't figure out for the life of me how I got in it in the first place. As a rule a rule I NEVER date in the winter time. I know your looking at this like...Yup! I knew she wasn't wrapped too tight. And you maybe right; but feel me on this. Most tired, good for nothing men prey on full figured women or any woman really in the winter time. Why? I 'll tell you why, because summer is over; so that means PLAY TIME is over too. So, now these "men" have to find a winter time boo to be hugged up with to get through the winter. For example, a plus size women is good for this type of guy, because were considered to be motherly, keep a clean house(well, most of us!), and be good cooks(again, most of us!), and be good lovers. Now, how some of this is said to be true of women, plus size women are more vulnerable because of "low self esteem" that some can carry from previous relationships. Not just with men, but people in general.

With that being said; ladies you, we, us have to be more cautious of who we allow in our lives, bedrooms, and YES checking accounts! Some of you ladies go crazy and give a dudes access to your car (knowing he doesn't have a license), bank accounts, credit cards then get a rude awakening when as soon as SPRING comes in he tells you that he needs space; and your smothering him. After that what happens? Your left tired, lonely, angry, BROKE, and a mess! Not everyone does this but some females do. Some of you shy away from your friends for this guy and put him first even when you know he puts you last. Now baby, is that the kind of relationship you really want. And what's worse is after spring/summer is over GUESS WHO is ringing your phone off the HOOK? Sad isn't it?

when  issues like this happens some of us measure ourselves against another women. This has to stop! Were all unique and have that extra special something that we bring to the table. Our abilities, strengths and weaknesses are different; and so is our beauty inside and out! KNOW YOUR WORTH!

So, how do we fix it? Work on you first, understand your own needs and wants. That will make it easier for you to spot a Bulls**t artist when you see one. Keep busy and focused on work, school, family, friends, because in the end those are the people who are going to hold you down when rough times happen.Get together with your girlfriends and have a girls night in/out. Doing that will take your mind off the BUFFOONERY that occurred prior. I know its hard but try to keep yourself in balance as much as possible. If your balance things won't stress you out as much and you will be able to make judgements or decisions with a clear conscience and a present mind.

As always stay BEAUTIFUL, CONFIDENT, & SEXY!

FASHION REWIND: Style repeats that has lost it's style & new ways to spin a old item

Hello Dolls! I've been waiting anxiously to see what new tips and tricks full figured retailers are going to come up with for the 2013 spring season only to see a lot of the same style repeats from seasons past. Don't get me wrong some styles are classics that never go out, but others are also classics meaning old and tired. How do we spot the difference? Easy, look in your closet and if you have the exact same design from last season and see it coming out for a a new season just in a a different cut or color; then baby you have your self a STYLE REPEAT!

From Marc Jacobs spring 2013
You might see colors and lines like this one for the Marc Jacobs spring collection. I know what your thinking. Your thinking he doesn't make anything for plus sizes; and you are right. But my point is that this style has been done and re-done too many times to count. So if a major label like this is doing it, why not a full figured label? Honestly, shop some of your favorite stores and see what turns up. Maybe a few new items but all in all it's mostly items you already have in your closet.

Available at fashiontofigure.com
Dresses Like the one fits the mold on a new spin on a the classic little black dress. This dress called Take the Plunge available by Fashion to Figure accentuates curves and gives a plunging neckline (which is my go to favorite neckline) with a mesh like cover that showcases a full figured women's cleavage. This is the type of dress a plus size women can wear that she will feel comfortable and sexy in without being to risque, but of course you want to push the envelope just a bit so the back of the dress is is the same mesh like see through lining.

This coat by Ashley Stewart is quickly becoming one of my favorite items for the new season. It flatter a full body and has a great blending of fabrics to give a women that chic look that we all want. For the transition from winter to spring this coat looks as if it can give the versatility that's needed, because you never know what mother nature has in store for you.

Ladies seriously its not what you wear (most of the time), but how you wear it, how it makes you feel, and the confidence you get from looking and feeling voluptuous.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop? Visit them when the new merchandise comes in try not to purchase items that are similar to the ones in your closet. Were all guilty of is sometimes ladies were so caught up in being EMOTIONAL SHOPPERS that we buy things we already have. What's an emotional shopper? That's when we buy things because we want something quick or just because it fits. Tell the truth! How many of use have had bad days at work, home, relationships, etc. and were in need of retail therapy?  Someone or something gets on our nerves and we run to the closest mall to sooth the pain. Doing this not only results in BAD fashion decisions, but it can put a hurting on your wallet and as MOST of us know money isn't as abundant as it use to be; so we can't afford to over spend on under performing clothing. When you feel the need to splurge try doing it on items that can transform your look, and if there are things you need to buy make sure its comparable with your everyday as well as your special occasion items.

Have you got a story? We all have one the important thing is that we keep telling and writing it. How else can we move pass the stereo type of a plus size, full figured or phat woman? The worlds worst judge is yourself, so on this blog that's what were going to work on through fashion, body image, perception, and anything else that will help us to be better people. Stay Beautiful, Confident, & Sexy!

Santa baby, I know what I want under my tree...: My picks for great gifts!

What would you like Santa to leave for you under the tree this year? I know, it leaves you with the look of question marks on you face. Don't worry I have some great ideas that are sure to make your Naughty behavior seem very Nice. This year has been a rough on all of us, so when I started my Christmas shopping the first thing I did was come up with a budget; the next thing I did is go waaaay over it! I'm a lover of Christmas and I can't help but really go ham (crazy) when the season comes in, it's the only time of year when I don't quite feel the sting of life; however, I do feel it in my wallet. So to save you guys from the same pain I've just recently had the pleasure of making an acquaintance with; I've come up with some really great gift ideas that won't, YES! Won't break the bank but still have the potential to be knock out, fabulous gifts.

First, tonight lets leave the children(if you have any) at home and enjoy a romantic dinner for two, weather it be at home or at your favorite eatery make it your business to make this Christmas gift one for the record books. It doesn't have to cost a million dollars to let the person close to you know that they are appreciated, sometimes that is gift enough.

If a budget is what your on, then a romantic evening alone in a HOT bubble bath with your SWEETHEART is the all the gift you need to turn your NICE evening into a NAUGHTY one! With this gift and quick trip to the Dollar Store you can turn your plain Jane bathroom into a romantic spa getaway. Imagination, visual, ambiance is key with this gift, so be sure to color coordinate, have flow, and always make sure a beautiful sent is in the air.

Feeling a little nostalgic? Maybe this trip down memory lane will help you remember why you love Christmas! Watching this Christmas Classic, while cuddling with your honey is a great way to unwind from the liveliness of the day.

For the gadget person in your life an IPad case is a great way to protect your device and can also complement your style in a variety of colors, shapes, & sizes. Some of the fabric cases can be embroidered with names or special messages of love or encouragement to remind anyone of how special they are; and what they can achieve. Hope, isn't that what Christmas is all about?

For the music lover in your life Beats by dr. dre is defiantly their dream come true! The sound and clarity of these professional, and studio quality headphones can get you in the groove no matter how hectic your day.

For the man in your heart, Gucci Guilty is a great way to keep him smelling good, being confident, and  most of all trusting in your good taste to know what smells good on him and lights your fire at the same time; so basically its a win win for both of you!

Ladies, I didn't forget about us! I am a woman that LOVES to smell good! I like to smell like a man can eat me right up at the mere passing of me in the office, at home, and anywhere in between; so I know my ladies like the same type of attention. Philosophy products can do that for you with their bubble baths, shower gels, fragrances, and body lotions! You will be supple, and soft while remaining on your best behavior( at least for a little while).

Like I said before, I love to smell good and using Pink Sugar is one of the ways I like to do it! This smell is pretty, with a candy smell that isn't over powering. It can be worn with anything to anything, this sent is a multipurpose sent  that can fit  any occasion.

Sometimes a nice relaxing drink while reminiscing can be the best conversation you ever have with friends or loved ones. Doing this can oddly put things in perspective for you. Also, it can put you in line to face things you would otherwise turn from; and set goal that have been pushed to the back burner of your mind. Taking this time to focus can and will set you on the path of knowing or asking the common question; Whats next?

Lastly, but certainly not least is LOVE. Giving someone your heart without any stipulation, or conditions is the best gift you could ever give another human being. This gift shouldn't be taken lightly and cherished for as long as possible for it is fragile; even though sometimes it cannot be easily broken it can definitely be wounded. So, please handle it with care!

So, that's my TOP 10 Christmas Picks I hope you like them as much as I do!

Remember your gift don't have to be the most expensive as long as when you give it, its from the heart! If you have anything to add please comment as you see fit.

Growing up full figured: The Evolution of the big girl

This subject has been on my mind for quite some time. I've had trouble with this all my life. I never knew how effected I was until I started to recognize the patterns in the relationships I had or the choices I made (especially in men!). Honestly, it started with the movie Phat Girls that recently came on tv.  Not that I've never seen the movie before; it's more like I watched it with new eyes. What I saw before was a big girl trying to find love, what I see now is a big girl who once was a little girl with image issues trying to find love in another person instead of finding it within herself. In doing so she uses fat burners, diet pills and drinks; only to be disappointed that no change as occurred. How cliche right? But with all honesty its the truth, how many of us has the same story to tell? I know I do. As a full figured woman, I never thought about why I fight so hard to be heard, taken seriously, or even considered a factor. I now have an idea of why; (this is my opinion) I think its because as a full figured woman we are often pushed in to certain roles in life that don't necessarily fit who we are as people, and because of this we often become mean or bitter, some become desperate, needy, or clingy. These are roles we are stuck  in because those are the roles we see portrayed on tv or in real life; desperate women trying to fit in to a mold that isn't made for wide hips and thick thighs. Growing up I felt the same pressure to fit in, and in some ways I still feel the pressure; but it is a lot less, and I'm more excepting of who I am, and what I will possibly never be. Some ideas we may have of our selves isn't realistic to what our bodies can actually be. This is hard to face, but realism is a must! And I'm not in the habit of lying to anyone especially myself.

Who do you remember in your growing up that gave a positive image of that a plus size man or woman should be?

Fashion is one way we've stepped out of the box with the stigma created around a sexier woman. In fashion I've found that I was sexy, expressive, desired, and flirtatious (well I'm naturally flirtatious anyway!); but the personality and confidence really comes out when your comfortable with who and what you are. How do you feel when your all done up and sexy?

Recently, being a bigger woman doesn't get the bad press it use to. Now we are the lead actresses, the love interests, as well as the best friends and mothers. We have really made strides in recent years and became the new "it" girls of society, IT TOOK LONG ENOUGH! How have you evolved? Can you approach someone and start a conversation or give a flirtatious eye to a gorgeous man/woman across the room? These are some things that come with growing up & evolving into a you that you want to be without the pressure of society constantly making comments on what you can't be.
