Accessorize Your Accessories: Just because it's in style doesn't make it right

Hello Divas! Today were going to be talking about over sized accessories trend. I am a girl about accessories, but ladies we must know the limits of being a truly fashionable diva! I love putting on accessories, it just has a way of making an outfit complete; however we do have a tendency to go overboard. Have you ever seen someone who should be on an episode of, ACCESSORIES GONE WILD! Well , I have too; and believe me I just want to tap her on the shoulder and ask her if she thinks that (earrings, necklace, etc.) is cute. But you can't do that without being offensive right? Over sized jewelry, earrings especially can weigh down your ears; and make your ears sag; Not a cute situation! So what should you do when faced with a similar situation? Number 1, the rules of purchasing DO NOT apply to the rules of accessory wear; for example when your shopping and you see something cute and it comes in different colors, you would buy one in every color; when in doubt get them all. That rule does not apply, when in doubt don't put them all on at once! Choose a few flattering pieces that complement each other as well as you; and your body will be a more clutter free space. Remember ladies sometimes less is more! There are a lot of beautiful, bold, statement jewelry and accessories out there that I'm sure will make your outfit pop with beautiful energy. But, there is also jewelry and accessories that don't complement you at all and can actually make you appear bigger that you are; and who wants that? Not you and defiantly not me! Stick to one or two statement pieces are enough, more than that your just looking for the wrong kind of attention. Just because its in fashion doesn't mean it's the right fashion statement for you. Second, Know what type fits your body, try them on in the store and examine yourself from every possibly flattering angle you can conceive in your mind before you make a commitment to buy, it you don't like it walk away knowing that you've made the right decision. Who wants to deal with the hassle of buying something for it not to work out; then have to return it? Third, make sure it complements your outfit for whatever event you maybe attending. There is nothing worse than not have the right piece to finish off your look. Lastly, definitely shop around. Visit places like forever 21, fashion bug, etc. Don't limit your self to one store just because you've found great items there before. Also, places like thrift stores also carry jewelry/accessories that are cute and don't break the bank, remember you could get some great finds in the oddest of places. These are just a few things that I do when looking for statement jewelry/accessories, What are some of the things you look for when making a decision to purchase? What factors are important to you? Please share some of your do's and don't of accessorizing in the comment section below. Thanks for reading! Until next time diva's stay big, beautiful, and fashionable!

From Blah to Bright: New colors leading to a new you!

Hello ladies! Today I want to talk with you about our color personalities. As plus size women we tend to stick to dark colors, mostly because like everyone we all know that dark colors like for example black; hides a multitude of sins. Well ladies I challenge you! I challenge you to step out of your box and branch into trying different colors. I am very guilty of committing the same crime. I think for the longest time I felt comfortable in black. It hid features I didn't want anyone to see, and it enabled me to not care what I looked like or how I felt when wearing it. Those days are over, I not only challenge you; but myself as well. Try to wear colors that in the past you've tried to stay away from, because you felt as if they were unflattering. If your still uncomfortable with those colors try pairing them with a dark color to make the dark color pop more; and be more appealing. Prints also scare some Plus Size Divas, well I'm here to tell you; fear no more! For the spring its very typical for plus size clothing retailers to carry floral prints. I don't know about you divas, but I'm not a fan of the floral print. Sometimes when I go into a store looking for a great spring/summer dress with prints on them; the prints are in the wrong places, bringing too much attention to what I don't want people to see, or the dress is cute; but the print on it makes it ugly. Have you ladies had any of these same issues? What are some of the things you've come across in your shopping adventures that made you want to turn and run? My rule of thumb when wearing a print is to pair it with a solid color. Depending on the print it self it can sometimes be difficult to imagine how you would wear it. But, I stress to you divas you'll never know how you feel about it until you try it for your self. Just because were big women doesn't mean that we are forever trapped in a world were the only color that exists is black. Until next time, Divas!

The New Girl On The Block

Hello All,

I'm fabulous Fashion Girl! I'm new on the blogging scene and I want to voice my opinion on plus size fashion. I decided since there wasn't a forum for plus size girls like me to express their opinions and share stories, I would create one for myself. My background is I attended a fashion school and hold a degree on the subject, I love to write also; so why not combine the two loves and FASHION PLUS was born. On this blog we will not only talk about fashion, but everyday issues plus size girls have & how we deal with them. Entrepreneurship, relationships with others, and of course style tips and stories will be shared. I would love to hear from you (the readers) on subjects and topics that are of interest to you, or and questions or concerns you may have about anything I will dutifully answer my opinion with the best of my ability. This is my very first blog, so please be respectful when making comments(constructive criticism is welcome). Thank you for reading, I hope I don't disappoint you, and I hope you are as excited as I am to be doing what I love!
