Are you comfortable in your CURVY?

How comfortable in the shape of your body? Many women struggle with this question. As young girls we are taught that beauty is what people can see and not what they feel. When I say taught, I don't mean by our parents or teachers; I mean by visual images. Perceptions of what the American standard of beauty is or can be. How about we change that perception? How? By asking ourselves the basic question of am I comfortable in my curvy?

How can you tell if you or another woman is comfortable in their curvy? Easily done, watch how they move, they way they carry themselves or their weight. If she moves with a flow or grace like walking from one point to the next is effortless, then YES she is comfortable in her curvy.

If a women hides herself under large ill fitting clothing, doubts herself before anyone else gets the chance to, and walks with a discomfort that makes others uncomfortable by watching her move; then it's safe to assume that this woman is not comfortable in her own skin. How can this woman(women) move past how they see or feel about themselves to project a positive image that can radiate from the inside out?

For years I've had friends of all sizes and plus size women in particular seem to not know how to carry themselves so that they; and people around them are at ease. Have you ever seen a plus size girl with jeans or other clothes so tight that her clothes are screaming LET US FREE! And when they  move the discomfort is visible?  That is clearly a woman who is not comfortable in her curvy. A woman  is truly comfortable all the above occurrences will not happen.

It really hurts me to see my sisters look as if they're hating who they are when really its who they are that makes them a better woman. Can you name women in the public eye who are curvy and beautiful? And in being comfortable in their own beauty has changed the way society views CURVY women?

I for one am going to continue to fight the good fight in hopes that one day women like myself & others will be accepted in the fashion industry. It took most of my adult years to accept my own body, and that was mostly due to what I saw boys were interested in when they were looking at girls to date. And some of those insecurities carried over into adulthood until I was able to understand and challenge what people thought beauty was.

So, I challenge you to challenge others into changing what they consider the standard of beauty to be. In the meantime stay Beautiful, Confident, & Sexy!

Sexy turns Plus Size: My shopping trip to Torrid

Hello Dolls! I recently went on a shopping trip to Torrid. For those of you who don't know Torrid is a trendy plus size store more for twenty somethings; originally it was for people who are into Gothic type clothes, but they have branched out and really hit the mark on what a full figured women that's in her twenties likes to wear & that she wants to be sexy and trendy; instead of matronly and in bad taste. so here are a few photos of some outfits I tried on and bought.

This top I wore to work, it felt great against my skin and I felt good in it. I think it flattered my curves without revealing too much.

This is the back of it. I thought that the back being out would be too revealing but it turned out to be PERFECT!

A better picture from the front.

This is the same top in a shimmery black color, ok I'm one of those girls that will buy the same top in different colors; because it can be worn to different occasions. Like this one for instance can be worn to a club, or party whereas the other one would be only for the office type setting. With this top I can be more playful and dress it up with booties or a high heel and accessories to give it an evening or club look.

I love this top! This is what I call multipurpose. I can were it to school or work; and dress it up to go out with my girls! It has a open section over the chest, and has a piece of fabric across the neck. I think I love this top because of the chest area. If  you don't know me I love to push my breasts up and attempt to give myself a more hour glass figure. I am plus size, but I have lost a little weight and I'm shaping up nicely. This top shows my shape coming in.

Usually, I don't like dresses; and that's because I always felt awkward in them. But every once in a while I find a dress that gives me the look & feel that I want. Though not the greatest picture; this dress is gorgeous on me. It's free flowing across my stomach so I can hide it a bit, I'm going to pair it with a short wrap to frame my top and make it look better or cleaner shaped, a pair of booties to give me some height (because I'm a shorty, lol), and a pair of fish net type tights(like the one's below) to finish it off.

These would be what I have in mind to make sexy legs, even SEXIER!

Remember to stay BEAUTIFUL, CONFIDENT, & SEXY!

Plus size or full figured doesn't mean FAT!

For years women have been laboring under the misconception that a curvy woman is automatically considered a FAT woman. The stigma has lasted for as long as fashion has existed. Why? It was always thought that a woman has a shape outside of a straight line, she is fat or more commonly known as now is obese. This concept is simply not true. Like everything else in life there are degrees to measure the body type of a woman.

But I'm not talking about measuring, I'm more concerned with how we as women are made to feel when it's suggested that to be attractive you have to fit this perfect mold that all or most people want to be categorized as.

No! You do not have to be fat to be plus size. What prompted me to discuss this further it a conversation I had with a friend. During this conversation I realized I knew many people who thought of curvy women as plus size; including themselves. And for some women to come to the realization that they are not the size they use to be or not the size they want to be is scary. So what happens? You  and I both know what happens... They go after clothing that doesn't make them feel good or sexy, but depressed because it doesn't drape the right way on their bodies.

Question: Why do we lie?

Why is it so hard to come to grips with the fact that 'I need a bigger size?'  Why when we consider cars, money, houses, etc bigger is better; with people sweet is petite? And it echoes so loudly that soon that's all we hear and it becomes our obsession. Healthy is one thing forcing your body to conform to another persons standards is another story entirely.

Looking at clothing ads for full figured women you will see that most of those women are not plus size because their FAT; but because they have large breast, and wide hips. In what world is LARGE BREASTS and WIDE HIPS ever wrong?

Listen, I am every bit full figured. I have large breasts, wide hips, round stomach and yes I could be healthier but over all I am happy with myself.  I would rather buy clothes that fit and look good on me regardless of its size; then to buy something much smaller, makes me look a HOT MESS, and get me all the wrong attention simply out of pure vanity of a number size no one will see because the tags are on the inside of my clothes... Tell me what is the problem with that?

No, you don't have to be fat to be considered full figured; but you do have to be dumb to consider yourself anything short of it!

As always stay beautiful, confident, and sexy! Leave any comments below. I thank you for all your support and please visits my other pages:
