FASHION REWIND: Style repeats that has lost it's style & new ways to spin a old item

Hello Dolls! I've been waiting anxiously to see what new tips and tricks full figured retailers are going to come up with for the 2013 spring season only to see a lot of the same style repeats from seasons past. Don't get me wrong some styles are classics that never go out, but others are also classics meaning old and tired. How do we spot the difference? Easy, look in your closet and if you have the exact same design from last season and see it coming out for a a new season just in a a different cut or color; then baby you have your self a STYLE REPEAT!

From Marc Jacobs spring 2013
You might see colors and lines like this one for the Marc Jacobs spring collection. I know what your thinking. Your thinking he doesn't make anything for plus sizes; and you are right. But my point is that this style has been done and re-done too many times to count. So if a major label like this is doing it, why not a full figured label? Honestly, shop some of your favorite stores and see what turns up. Maybe a few new items but all in all it's mostly items you already have in your closet.

Available at fashiontofigure.com
Dresses Like the one fits the mold on a new spin on a the classic little black dress. This dress called Take the Plunge available by Fashion to Figure accentuates curves and gives a plunging neckline (which is my go to favorite neckline) with a mesh like cover that showcases a full figured women's cleavage. This is the type of dress a plus size women can wear that she will feel comfortable and sexy in without being to risque, but of course you want to push the envelope just a bit so the back of the dress is is the same mesh like see through lining.

This coat by Ashley Stewart is quickly becoming one of my favorite items for the new season. It flatter a full body and has a great blending of fabrics to give a women that chic look that we all want. For the transition from winter to spring this coat looks as if it can give the versatility that's needed, because you never know what mother nature has in store for you.

Ladies seriously its not what you wear (most of the time), but how you wear it, how it makes you feel, and the confidence you get from looking and feeling voluptuous.

Where are some of your favorite places to shop? Visit them when the new merchandise comes in try not to purchase items that are similar to the ones in your closet. Were all guilty of is sometimes ladies were so caught up in being EMOTIONAL SHOPPERS that we buy things we already have. What's an emotional shopper? That's when we buy things because we want something quick or just because it fits. Tell the truth! How many of use have had bad days at work, home, relationships, etc. and were in need of retail therapy?  Someone or something gets on our nerves and we run to the closest mall to sooth the pain. Doing this not only results in BAD fashion decisions, but it can put a hurting on your wallet and as MOST of us know money isn't as abundant as it use to be; so we can't afford to over spend on under performing clothing. When you feel the need to splurge try doing it on items that can transform your look, and if there are things you need to buy make sure its comparable with your everyday as well as your special occasion items.

Have you got a story? We all have one the important thing is that we keep telling and writing it. How else can we move pass the stereo type of a plus size, full figured or phat woman? The worlds worst judge is yourself, so on this blog that's what were going to work on through fashion, body image, perception, and anything else that will help us to be better people. Stay Beautiful, Confident, & Sexy!

Over the top pretty: how far do full figured women have to go to get noticed?

Hello Divas! I'm hear to report to you an alarming trend that occurs among the curvy, voluptuous, women of the world. Ladies, when the weather gets hotter and hotter the clothing starts to come off; and not all of us have to show all the goodies as the heat rises. You guys know what I'm talking about, I'm not the only Diva who's seen other queens letting it all hang out being careless about their sexiness or lack there of flap in the breeze. I've seen things wiggle and jiggle without much effort at all. Have you seen this before? Where is it most common? I wonder; how far do we as full figured women have to go to get noticed when the summer heat rises? This summer lets not have too big breasts in too small tank tops or shorts that can pass as thongs. Ladies, lets keep it Classy not Nasty. If your goal is to get attention from the male perspective; you won't get it by showing them yours first. You'll get it by showing them they have to work for all the goodies you have. Make them look at you and instantly wonder what you would look like without clothes; instead of showing them from the first impression. That will not make you a summer time boo, but instead a late night jump off; and Diva, we do not want that! Let this echo in your mind as you stock up on summer essentials; beauty, pretty, sexy, is not in what you wear; but how you wear it and the confidence you exude. By no means am I telling you to hide behind over sized clothing, shielding your sexiness from the world; but lets be smart about it. In hot weather our counter parts can wear next to nothing and unfortunately we can't follow in their footsteps. So, we have to stay a cut above and take our summer time game to a new level. First, my voluptuous Divas smaller is not better. Try and stay away from clothing that will in some way create friction between yourself and the garment. Nothing is more uncomfortable than the constant rubbing sensation caused by clothing that's too small. Did you ever notice that the tighter the clothes the more you sweat? Second, there is no creature on this earth more beautiful than you! So, please leave the heavy make-up at home. Putting on heavy make-up will suffocate your skin, allow you to sweat more, and most importantly take away from your natural beauty. I say stay fresh with your look use a light moisturizer(tinted if you prefer), maybe a good press powder to eliminate shine that may build up, and a sheer gloss to finish your look. Accessories should complement not overwhelm, but a statement they must make. When you walk in and out of a room you should be the first thing peoples eye catches, and the last thing their mouths talk about when complementing your style. As always stay beautiful, confident, full figured, and above all SEXY! Leave questions, comments, or concerns.   Until next time Divas!

Originality not so original: how can we get it back again?

Hello diva's! Let's talk originality, how many of us can honestly say that our styles are original? Very few I'm I think. Some of us think were original but really were following what the fashion trend is at the time. We as a whole normally rely on what were told we should look like or wear according to what magazine executives say is a MUST HAVE for a week or two. What do you think about that? Do you like to be told that this particular item is what you should have, and not that other item from last week that looks exactly the same but in a different color? No! I don't either. It's hard enough to find great buys being a plus woman as it is, let alone be told that I have got to have this or my fashion future will be ruined. So I pose the question, what is originality to you? How do you set yourself apart from the thousands of other women, who may purchase the same item(s) as you? I came across this picture that talks about barriers being a plus size woman and I wanted to share it with you all in hopes that it would encourage some of us to break as many of them as possible. Please leave any questions, comments or concerns below. Don't forget to follow one of your favorite plus size divas! Until next time ladies! Xoxox!
