PSDSM Anniversary and Fashion Show Expo!

Live shows + Parties + Drinks + PLUS SIZE FASHION = A Good Time!

The Plus Size Diva-Stud Magazine Anniversary Fashion Show was a show I won't soon forget. Plus Size Diva-Stud Magazine is the brain child of Annette Jimenez Creator/CEO/ Plus Model. Filling one of many gaps in the plus size industry, Annette found her nitch with PSDSM.

PSDSM one year anniversary party was held in East Harlems Crystal Ballroom on November 6th. I hate to be late to any event, but dodging NYC traffic is no joke! Allowing myself 2 hours travel time; I drove some of the way, took a bus, the subway, and because of my poor navigational skills the CHEAPEST NYC cab ride ever to reach my destination. Needless to say I was 45 minutes late, but still fabulously dressed if I must say so myselfπŸ‘ πŸ‘—πŸ’„πŸ˜‰!

While waiting for the elevator I was had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Louis Prada host of the event, and was also impeccably dressed himself, so in terms of networking the night was off to a good start. Taking my seat it the VIP section I sat among for lack of better word Plus Size Fashion "HEAVY WEIGHTS" like Plus Size Designer JustRaymona and M.U.A, Stylist, and Managing Editor of Full Blossom Magazine Magazine Barbie Armstrong; to say I was in fashion heaven would be an understatement! Through the course of the evening I learned quite a bit from these divas, things from hem lines to proper foundations; being a great student I sat back and absorbed all that I could.

As the models and designers began to showcase their collectons down the runway I readied my phone with anticipation. The collections shown that night were beautiful. Each designer put their imagination and personal style to work showing men's and women's clothing. Each had a "show peice" that was a bit unconventional but nice none the less. I loved each collection, but I was pleasently surprised to see that a good friend of mine JUUL of JUUL COUTURE showcased her designs at the show! Not seeing her In a while I had to express how proud and happy I am to see her doing her thang on the runway. Wearing too many hats to count (designer, makeup artist, model, etc.) I know my girl was going to wow me with her collecton, and she did not disappoint!

It's far from easy to take your dream (more like your baby), and the passion you have to persue it and show it to the world (believe me I know, MY FIRST NOVEL IS COMING OUT SOON!). I can't articulate in words how happy I am that I was a witness to hard work, and passion everyone showed. Not just the designers who made the clothing, but the models, organizers, volunteers, hosts/hostesses, and Mrs. Jeminez for pulling it together.

But not everything is rosy in the world of fashion! Not even the cocktails could camouflage the repeated disruptions caused by the music engineer. No show is perfect by any means (and this truth is NOT meant to bash in anyway), with that being said whomever this person was needs to get more practice before he/she books another show. Too obvious to ignore the music would start off fine then when it was time to loop the track, it didn't. Another song would come on, play for a bit then go back to the original track. Also, there was a loud screech or a short period of silence before the song repeated. To the models credit they remained PROFESSIONAL, and in character as they kept modeling through the technical difficulties. The models of PSDSM are a profession and diligent group of men/women with focus as to not have shown any appearance of surprise on their faces, cudos to Annette Jeminez for choosing these models to represent her and Plus Size Diva-Stud Magazine!

This event being the first of many I hope left a lasting impressionon me; I also hope that Annette Jeminez and her team of beauties will continue to inspire plus sizes, straight sizes, and all those that have yet to be claimed! I'm proud and I also appreciate the work that you do in fashion and within your community.

Enough with the talk...ON WITH THE PICS‼️

Hello beautiful people! My name is Dominique Ali, I'm 29 from New Jersey as of now I'm a size 26; and I'm a plus size fashion blogger.

What makes me a Curvy Fashionista? Not taking no or allowing my size to hinder me from success as a plus size blogger/writer. Fashion and writing is my passion, combining the two loves makes me feel as if the double standard between plus sizes and straight sizes doesn't exist.

I started fashion blogging, because I felt like plus size fashion was under appreciated and didn't get the notice it deserved. Hey, Big girls want to look good too! And why shouldn't we? Thus, Fashion Plus Blog (www.Fabulouslyp.blogspot.com) was born. In my blog I touch on other issues in the plus community that no other blogger talked about that I wanted to be voiced; so I gave voice to them myself. Also, I've recently had Gastric Sleeve surgery to improve the quality of my health. I've been documenting my progress pre and post surgery you can view my videos on Youtube (www.Youtube.com/user/dom4fashionplus).

My motto: Raise the bar so high, that there is no bar.

Dating the Voluptuous way: How curvy women should dress for a day or night out on the town!

YES! I'm absolutely going to go there! Dating is hard enough without adding the prep time it takes to get ready for it, but when you also add to the equation being plus sized it takes the "Dating Game" to a new level entirely.

The first date can make or break a possible future relationship, so it's important to identify whether or not your comfortable with this person in a setting were it will be the two of you and no other daters (double dating), or group setting. If you can, find out what type of date your going out on so that dressing for the occasion will be as effortless as possible. Not only will knowing ahead of time give you an edge, but it will also provide you with back up conversation material should you run out of things to talk about. But if your date is cute, articulate, and knowledgeable trust me you should not be lacking in the communication department. But should you find that they're all looks and no substance cut and run ASAP! Because there's nothing worst that a cute DULL date; whose only conversation is about me, myself, & I.

For a casual date: whether it be two people or a group, I would recommend a versatile flowing top maybe a solid color; something not too busy, a slim cute pair of jeans (to show off your shape or your hour glass shape), and a cute flat or booties to complement with limited accessories. It's best to stick to earrings and bangles to draw attention to your face and hands. Go light on the makeup, your date shouldn't be tempted to use a butter knife to chisel the foundation off of your face!

For a lunch date: I suggest to try and be dressy casual. That way you will be prepared for any lunch setting; wether it be in a bistro, a deli, a cafe, or a hot dog in the park; always put your best foot forward. P.S. Wear comfy shoes nothing too over the top that screams expensive & uncomfortable. That way if you two go for a walk you won't be unpleasant because your feet hurt. And we ALL know that when our feet starts to hurt the date or occasion is pretty much over.

For a beach or boardwalk date: Humm? That's a little more playful, so something light and airy would work best on this date. Possible a breathable cotton top, a crop pant or Capri, and a comfy light weight sneaker like Toms or a wedge. Little to no accessories and a light handbag if needed. On a beach date its likely that you will be out in the sun a majority of the time; so light clothing is essential. Also, there are plenty of boardwalk activities to do so wearing pants are a must! This date should be really fun so you can be sure there will be no awkward silences between you. Makeup should be minimal, and sun screen a must.

Now the date I know you've been waiting for the " Dinner Date" : This date is the most important date of all the dates previous. On this date there are no distractions. No friends, activities, or interruptions. This is when you really show who you are, and this is your chance to really WOW your date! When dressing show your personality; be classic but memorable. If wearing something black, be sure that your jewelry & accessories including your shoes stands out and brightens your ensemble. For your make up bring the attention to your eyes and mouth. You should always want to hold the attention there so that during conversation you'll be able to gage their reactions.

Over all, dating when with a great person can be a memorable experience or a disaster waiting to happen; but whatever the outcome please believe that you will be the best part of it! As always stay beautiful, confident, sexy, and full figured!!
